Couples and Marriage Counseling

For couples at any stage of their relationship: 

  • You’re at the very beginning of a relationship, and you want to set the foundation for long-term success.

In addition to romantic relationships, “couples” counseling can also be helpful for parents and adult children, siblings, even co-workers and friends—any relationship that needs help with clearer communication, better understanding of one anther, or help resolving where the relationship is getting stuck.

We will meet as needed, typically once weekly, in my private office setting for 50–55 minutes*. Together we will identify and resolve where you’re getting stuck, and in this process we will reveal a clearer, more desirable path for you moving forward.

Therapeutic Intensives

Therapeutic Intensives are becoming one of the most popular ways for people to meet their goals and transform their lives. Using evidence-based modalities, Intensives are able to go beyond just treating the symptoms, and instead get to the root of the problems and patterns that are causing distress or anything that's blocking your success. Intensives are customized to meet your specific needs and are 1-3 days long.

For Individuals:  

You will spend 1–3 days doing personal work that is custom designed to meet your individual needs and goals. We will thoroughly explore your life, working together to re-process stressful, painful, or traumatic events that have impacted you and are getting in the way of your ability to care for yourself and have satisfying relationships with others.

For Couples:

You will spend 1-3 days working on your relationship. You will learn how to create and maintain an emotionally safe environment and relationship, and delve deeply into your relationship dynamics. We’ll work together toward healing any old wounds that just won’t go away so you can heal and move on. You’ll learn tools for resolving conflicts in a healthy way, you’ll learn and practice more effective ways to meet one another’s needs, and you’ll participate in meaningful and connecting activities that will have long-lasting, positive effects on your relationship moving forward.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a powerful therapeutic method that when used according to the scientific research protocols, incorporates the whole person: body, emotions, and mind. This powerful therapy may utilize emotional expressive tools and activities, such as role-playing or acting, props, arts and crafts, music, animal-assisted therapy, or guided imagery to reprocess stressful or traumatic situations from the past or present.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy:  a powerful, evidence-based treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relational and complex trauma, grief and loss, overwhelming stress, and many mood and anxiety disorders. 

Psychodrama

Uses guided drama, role-playing, and props, to help you gain insight into your feelings and behaviors, and into the feelings and behaviors of others, to process unresolved or stressful situations.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

An illuminating and powerful experience “through the way of the horse.” Working with the horses in a therapeutic setting can help to identify communication problems, boundary issues, and unhealthy relationship dynamics. They can help us with presence, mindfulness, and healthy, connected relationships. Horses may provide a bio-feedback loop which can help us to see ourselves in our relationships.
